MP3s are so large because they must store an enormous, albeit compressed, sequence of numbers which describes the instant by instant back and forth vibrations of the speaker cone which will produce the sound of the music recorded. Web browsers may have to wait a number of seconds to begin to play an MP3 track because so much data must be transmitted to the user's computer. MP3s sound great but your readers may not wait around to listen to your example. There is no software currently available which does a good job of translating this vibrational description of a piece of music back into a music score where each note that that contributes to a performance is individually identifiable and manipuable. blog comments powered by DisqusPlease join our community at SongTrellis.
