Bea, Yep that's what BS means and you might find Willie Nelson's gentle rendition of Stardust enticing. His is my favorite. Willie did more to re-intorduce great american standards than anyone I can think of. Cole porter was also a true master and ya gotta love a guy who schlepps an 80 lb piano around on his back through the Saharan desert just to keep making music. That old story may be apocryphal but it dates back to his stint in the French Foreign Legion so who knows.... Now here's a aural challenge : Get yourself a recording of Ravel's ' Daphnis and Chloe' suite. Listen to it carefully...in all it's flowing beauty and breathtaking changes. Then imagine yourself sitting there..pen in hand... trying to score and orchestrate this incredible composition. I can't ...but I'm damned glad Ravel did. There is so much great stuff available that eludes the ears of the general public that I fume from time to time. With that I'll stop and wait for your report on ' Daphnis and Chloe'.
