Hi David It's me again. About four this morning while I was trying to figure out the mirror chords to 'Orange. It struck me how similar the tune was to 'Royal Garden Blues'. (I use both on my club dates) So I checked and sure enough they are almost the same. If you discount the tempo changes in 'Orange' and play it as a normal chart then it becomes rather obvious particularly if you add an extra bar in the first and second ending to make it a twelve bar blues instead of an eleven. This revelation for me at least, just points up how much of a genius Mingus was. The more time passes the more important his work becomes. The majority of players stay away from most of his music since it's considered too difficult. 'Royal Garden Blues' is in F while 'Orange' is in Eb. Check for yourself though. See if I'm right. There are differences sure, but the structure is just about the same. If I'm right then it should make performing 'Orange was the colour of her dress' that much easier to perform.                                                              Cheers Grahame Rhodes
