Grahame,

I have found bridges to be the biggest pains-in-the-ass to interpret from notation alone.

They often seem a personal afterthought wedged between to two numinos pieces of beautiful music.

I've gotten so frustrated,  I've taken to ditching the notated bridge and writing my own 'insert'...ne ..bridge... based on how I feel about the melodic lines it needs separate.

If nothing else,  this is a fun excercise in composition.

I'm certain this answers niether of your questions but perhaps it may be helpful in other ways.             Charles.
