I joined this site a few minutes ago and this is the first video I've played. It's great!! Thanks for posting it. I am a big fan of Jobim's music and "Aguas de Marco" is one of my favourite songs. I've enjoyed his music since the early 80's, but it's only recently that I have actually studied it. His chord progressions are really innovative. A classic example is "Samba de Uma Nota so" (One Note Samba). Who else could write a song, whose first 8 bars are just one note, and not bore his listeners? The secret is his choice of chords, coupled with the bossa nova rhythm. Incidentally, I've always found that his songs sound much better in their native Brazilian Portuguese. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the language itself has a rhythmic quality to it, that is perfectly suited to the Bossa Nova and Samba rhythms. I think they lose something when they are sung in English. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that? Thanks again for posting this video.
