The BMI repretoire database reports that Parker was the sole composer of Moose the Mooche.

It was first recorded in March 1946 in L.A. No definite date of composition is recorded but it seems likely that the tune was titled close to the time of the recording session, since Moose The Mooche was one of the drug dealers that Parker frequented in L.A. The recording was made only a few weeks after Parker and his fellow musicians arrived in California to perform at Billy Berg's.
