Grand Opening

SongTrellis sells things? It does now, so itís time to have a Grand Opening. We present to you our sales catalog.

Bernard Chinn and I are venturing together to sell play-along backing tracks.

If you are learning to sing or play a song at performance tempo or are learning to improvise on its chord changes, you might find our tracks are tremendous aids for your efforts. We will vend our tracks from the new BernardChinn subsite on SongTrellis. Hereís a page that describes how purchasing a track works.

The backing tracks weíre selling are arranged by Bernard. They give you the experience of having a complete band playing a tuneís accompaniment for you for several choruses, leaving you room to interpret the melody or improvise, as you wish.

The tracks are recorded as extremely high quality MIDI sequences. There is always a keyboard accompaniment, guitar or string chorus playing in the tracks to clearly play the tunes chords. Thereís also always a well-balanced bass and drum accompaniment. Almost always, Bernard composes an introduction for the track, so that you can get used to the tempo and feel of the arrangement as you begin to play, and invents counter melodies and accents to give you the feeling that a complete orchestra is playing with you.  Here are samples of the arrangements for Body and Soul, Cry Me A River, Flamingo and Misty

Because the tracks are MIDIs, you can load these into a sequencing player and can slow them down or speed them up without loss of quality (very important if you are practicing).

When you purchase a track, we also provide scores that show the tune's chord progression in concert key, and transposed for Bb and Eb instruments.

Individual tracks cost $2. You can purchase the entire collection for $35.

Arranger for hire

Bernard is also using the subsite to publicize his willingness to do arrangements for you by special request. Heís been performing since the mid-1940ís and knows thousands of songs. If you request a new backing track that we can add to our catalog, he may be willing to do that for as little as $30. If you require a complete arrangement for private use, Bernard is willing to do this kind of work also for a fee to be negotiated. Please contact him.

Safe ecommerce

We use PayPal to provide the shopping cart interface that you'll  use to purchase tracks. When you purchase, PayPal handles your credit card information and keeps it secure. When the purchase amount is collected by PayPal, usually a few moments after you authorize the purchase, PayPal sends us a message that your transaction is complete and lists for us the tracks you've purchased.  Upon receipt of that notice,  scripts on the SongTrellis server run automatically to set up the page that you'll use to access your purchased tracks and to email you a summary of the purchase at the email address you've given to PayPal. The purchase summary will tell you how to access your new tracks.

You're not charging for everything at SongTrellis, are you?

No, only for the tracks offered in the BernardChinn subsite. Everything listed in The Changes, The Rhythms, The Lessons and Our Composers will remain free.
