Alternate changes for Willie Nelson's Crazy, contributed by Gary Myers. Myers runs the MusicGem website and is the author of the book "Understanding and Using Chords and Chord Progressions".
His comments on his version of the progression follow:
1. The bVII chord (Bb) in bar #1 is from the Patsy Cline record.
2. The A7+ in bar #3 is NOT from the record. IIRC, the record just stays on Dm for those 2 bars.
3. I use the Dm7/G in bar 6 because of the C-A melody (on "feelin'").
4. The progression leading to the bridge (bars 15-16) IS from the record (IIRC) - pretty sophiscated for a c&w artist in 1962, huh?
5. The ascending chromatic line (and the F#dim) in the first 2 bars of the bridge is not from the record.
6. The C#dim in the 3rd-to-the-last bar could also be A7, A7/C#, or A7b9. IIRC, I do believe the C# bass was used on the record.
7. The b9 on the G7 is not from the record.
Printable GIF image of the score for this progresssion. Alternate roots used: in bar 6, the Dmi7 is a Dmi7/G (G in the bass) in bar 16, last chord before the bridge, the C7 is a C7/E (E in the bass)
