Harmonic experiment using 7(b9) chords. I noticed from studying Keith Jarrett's Prism that 7(b9) chords work very nicely when they are followed by minor or major chords a half step higher. The b9 is the root of the next chord a half step higher so your ear accepts the slide up.
Yesterday and today, I composed two different 16 bar melodies on these changes in order to explore what kind of melody these changes can support. Check out 6/26/03 First Try and 6/27/03 Second Try.
