So Dawn,  Am I right in understanding you are trying to find a song written about a song ?..or perhap a song with essence of the song Danny Boy as applied to the grandson ?

First,  Where and when did your father hear this song ?

Next,  What style was it in ?  Traditional melodic Irish tenor lilt ?  New world Christian sophistry heavy on the Bible aspect ?... or ???...?
