Monk's obituary

I was googling this morning invoking Thelonious Monk's name. The search came back with the 1982 obituary for Monk in the New York Times. The obit is written by John S. Wilson who knew Monk's music really well. A great summary of his life.

You know I hold Thelonious in high regard. We curently list 32 of his tunes in The Changes.

New stuff

Four new progressions listed since Friday:

• the Appalachian mountain hymn Down In The Valley to Pray. On the "O Brother Where Out There" soundtrack this was called Down To The River To Pray
• Eden Ahbez's Nature Boy
• Richard Rodgers' This Nearly Was Mine
• If I Were A Rich Man, Jerry Bock's tune from "Fiddler on the Roof"
