I had previously sent in a request for information about black gospel music and chord progressions, voicings, and elements which are predominant in that style of music. David sent a couple of e-mails trying to help me, but I have not found any other responses. However, since that time, I have talked with a couple of capable musicians who play gospel music, and found that what I am hearing in the music is everything from 7ths to 13ths.

Does anyone have sound advice for learning to play that style? Should I look for books? ( I scarcely can read the notes on the staff)

Thanks!

JB
