Hi Folks,

We've been making big changes to The Rhythms on SongTrellis since I last wrote to you. We have changed the form of that page so that we can list all of the variants of a rhythm at different tempos under one rhythm family heading. While doing this work, we made it possible to list the individual rhythm parts of the ensemble rhythms we list under the same heading.

We've gone through 10 of the ensemble rhythms listed and posted all of the individual parts for those rhythms. Over the next few days we will complete this work for all of the rhythms listed. This should make this section of the site much more useful to those who are trying to learn or practice these rhythms. It will also increase the number of rhythm loops offered by at least a factor of four.

The newest additions to the changes include:

   Jimmy Rowles' The Peacocks

   Keith Jarrett's Prism

Gil Fuller and Chano Pozo's Tin Tin Deo

Wayne Shorter's Twelve More Bars to Go, Fire and Callaway Went That-A-Way

Bobby Troup's The Meaning Of The Blues

Harry Warren's LuLu's Back In Town

Cole Porter's Just One Of Those Things, Everything I Love and Dream Dancing.

Frederick Loewes On The Street Where You Live

  Sonny Rollins' Sonnymoon For Two

  Thad Jones' Three And One

Mercer Ellington's Things Ain't What They Used To Be

   Thelonious Monk's Friday The 13th

Herbie Hancock's Driftin' and Watermelon Man

Best of luck with your musical endeavors,

Dave Luebbert
